Speech & Language Teaching Assistant

A welcoming and inclusive school in Windsor is seeking a Speech & Language Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a graduate or experienced Teaching Assistant who is considering a future career in Speech and Language Therapy, Education, Psychology, Special Educational Needs (SEN), or Social Work and wants to gain valuable hands-on experience supporting children with speech, language, and communication needs.

As a Speech & Language Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with individual pupils and small groups, providing targeted support to help develop their speech, language, communication, and social interaction skills
. You will work alongside teachers, the SEN team, and other professionals to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and build confidence in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Speech & Language Support: Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with speech, language, and communication needs.
  • Implement Strategies: Support speech and language activities and interventions recommended by teachers, SEN staff, or Speech and Language Therapists.
  • Facilitate Learning: Help pupils access the curriculum by adapting activities, modelling language, and using appropriate communication strategies.
  • Develop Communication

    Skills:

    Encourage pupils to develop their vocabulary, listening, understanding, expressive language, and social communication skills.
  • Track Progress: Monitor and record pupils' progress and share observations with the class teacher, SENCO, and relevant professionals.
  • Promote Confidence: Create a nurturing and supportive environment that encourages pupils to communicate, participate, and develop independence.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with teachers, the SEN team, parents, and external professionals to provide consistent support and implement effective strategies.

  • Salary: 92.59 - 95 per day
  • Hours: Full time, 8:30am - 4:00pm
