Key Responsibilities
QHS is an independent specialist day school, offering both primary and secondary education. The school supports a diverse group of pupils with complex educational needs, communication difficulties, and challenging behaviours.
Clinicians at the school are an integral part of one of the most joined-up models in SEND. Across all of the client’s specialist schools and children’s homes, they provide exceptional levels of clinical support, both in terms of expertise and the breadth of provision. The young people they support often present with a complexity of need, including developmental trauma, neurodevelopmental conditions, and special educational needs.
As part of a multi-disciplinary clinical team, the Senior Speech & Language Therapist will support both educational and residential colleagues in creating therapeutic living and learning environments. Based on clinical assessment and formulation, they will deliver individualised interventions and engage directly with young people to support their development.
Senior Speech & Language Therapists work collaboratively across the school and children’s homes, ensuring that therapeutic support is embedded in every aspect of education, care, and support. They also provide consultation, lead workshops, and deliver training and guidance to educational and residential teams working with the children.
