Overview
Head of Nuclear Strategy at Centrica Power drives the company's nuclear ambitions, overseeing strategy development, stakeholder engagement, governance and delivery of key projects such as the X-Energy Hartlepool development.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, present and deliver nuclear strategy, collaborating with the Nuclear Power Strategy Director and senior executives.
- Translate complex external market analysis into actionable, group-wide strategy.
- Build and maintain a forward pipeline of nuclear growth opportunities with prioritisation, milestones and delivery plans.
- Provide subject matter expertise on government support frameworks, investment, policy, spend, debt, equity and financing.
- Lead strategic market scanning, assessing technology and opportunity across UK and international nuclear sectors.
- Foster and manage relationships with internal teams, external partners and industry stakeholders (e.g., DESNZ, NWF, GBN).
- Establish robust governance and reporting structures, delivering regular updates and metrics to Power, senior management and the Board.
- Drive a commercial, safety and governance culture and provide thought leadership on market evolution and competitive positioning.
- Support investment committee decisions, project delivery and milestone tracking in virtual teams.
- Act as a senior external representative, enhancing Centrica Power's credibility and profile.
- Significant experience in the energy infrastructure industry with strong nuclear power knowledge across the full value chain.
- Deep technical understanding of nuclear asset class, enabling credible engagement with stakeholders.
- Financial acumen - ability to read and interpret financial models, debt finance, credit ratings, and regulatory frameworks.
- Knowledge of government decision making and policy development processes.
- Experience in large corporate or organisational governance, supporting investment committees and effective cadence.
- Project management expertise - able to create plans, manage milestones and deliver results.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to senior audiences.
- Strong stakeholder management and external relationship development at senior level.
- Proficiency in operating within virtual teams and across multiple business units.
