About the Role
Busy Buttons CORE Charity is seeking an experienced and inspirational Creative Director to lead the design and delivery of our creative and educational programmes. This role will play a vital part in ensuring the charity continues to thrive and make a positive impact on the lives of children, young people, and the wider community.
Working closely with the Board of Trustees, the Creative Director will provide strategic and creative leadership, overseeing projects that combine artistic excellence with social value. The post holder will be responsible for the development of new initiatives, the management of staff and volunteers, and the creation of meaningful partnerships that enable the charity to grow and sustain its work.
Key Responsibilities Programme Development & Delivery- Lead the planning, development, and delivery of innovative community arts programmes.
- Design inclusive wellbeing and education initiatives that improve engagement and personal development.
- Develop unique programmes that engage a broad spectrum of the community in meaningful creative projects.
- Ensure all programmes are delivered to a high standard, with measurable outcomes for participants.
- Provide overall artistic direction for the charity’s work, ensuring it reflects our mission and values.
- Oversee the creation of community art installations, exhibitions, and cultural projects.
- Develop new approaches to engage hard-to-reach audiences and sustain nationally recognised programmes.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with funders, corporations, schools, local authorities, and community organisations.
- Represent the charity at external events, promoting our work and impact to a wider audience.
- Identify opportunities for collaboration and growth through new partnerships.
- Experience in a senior creative or leadership role within the charity, arts, or education sector.
- Demonstrated success in developing and delivering community arts or educational programmes.
- Strong understanding of inclusive practice and ability to engage vulnerable or excluded children and young people.
- Experience managing teams, budgets, and projects.
- Excellent communication and partnership-building skills.
- Ability to balance creative vision with practical delivery and organisational needs.
- Recognition for contributions to creative education or community engagement.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, charity governance, and funding requirements.
- Experience working across multiple creative disciplines (visual arts, performance, design, etc.).
- Track record of developing new methodologies or approaches for engaging hard-to-reach groups.
