Apprentice Butcher Opportunity – Windsor Farm Shop

We’re on the lookout for an enthusiastic apprentice to join our skilled team of butchers. If you’re passionate about learning a craft, eager to earn a recognised industry qualification, and ready to build a long‑term career, this is the perfect opportunity for you!

As you progress through your apprenticeship, you’ll gain excellent experience, expert training, and—on successful completion—clear opportunities to grow within the business.

You do not need experience for this role, just plenty of interest in working in butchery and a desire to learn.

Hours: 40 per week (including training) working 5 days per week including one day each weekend

Duration: ~18 months

Salary: Competitive, plus discretionary bonus

Windsor Farm Shop offers a wide range of products sourced from British speciality producers, local artisans and the Windsor Farms. Founded by Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh in 2001, we enjoy a unique position on the edge of the stunning Windsor Estate, housed within converted potting sheds which date back to the reign of Queen Victoria.

Develop the core technical and professional skills required for a successful career in butchery.

• Learn essential butchery skills: cutting, trimming, boning, portioning
• Work safely with knives and equipment
• Maintain food safety, hygiene, and H&S standards
• Prepare, label, and package meat products
• Support stock control, deliveries, and cold‑store organisation
• Provide basic customer advice
• Keep work areas clean, organised, and efficient

Level 2 Butcher Apprenticeship

Mix of on‑the‑job learning and off‑the‑job training

• Strong communication skills; approachable and professional
• Reliable, eager to learn, and adaptable
• Physically fit and comfortable standing for long periods
• Team‑focused with a positive attitude
• Basic IT skills

Minimum of two GCSEs incl. English & Maths at grade E/2 (or equivalent) EHCP applicants accepted with Entry Level 3 in English & Maths

Aged 16+, not in full‑time education

Right to work in the UK

Able to commute to Windsor Farm Shop
