The Environmental Services Technician I at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for creating a clean and safe environment to support delivery of high quality care by performing daily and special cleaning that meets departmental procedure and safety and infection control standards. The Technician remains adaptable and flexible to support team needs and participates in ongoing professional development.

• Performs daily cleaning of assigned areas including patient rooms, bathrooms, trash receptacles, high dusting, sanitizing, spot cleaning, inspection of empty patient rooms, washing and disinfecting walls and ceilings per department standard operating procedures.
• Performs cleaning duties, including special cleaning and other area assignments, per SOP.
• Adheres to general safety and infection control standards.
• Performs responsibilities in a timely, efficient, cost‑effective, confidential and professional manner conducive to the overall mission and vision of the hospital.
• Performs other duties as assigned, demonstrating willingness, ability and team spirit to provide optimal customer satisfaction.
• Attends required in‑services, performance improvement activities (including EXCEL), and other educational programs.

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent. Required

• Previous experience in the hospital setting. Preferred

• Ability to read, write, and communicate both verbally and in writing; highly desired.
• Good communication skills to effectively communicate with inter and intra departmental employees, patients and their family members, physicians, and the public; highly desired.
• Must demonstrate knowledge and skills needed to proficiently provide service to a customer population including neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
• Must assume primary accountability for performing daily cleaning of assigned areas including patient rooms, bathrooms, trash receptacles, high dusting, sanitizing, spot cleaning, inspection of empty patient rooms, washing and disinfecting walls and ceilings.
• Must perform assigned cleaning duties, including special cleaning and other area assignments, according to the standard operating procedures of the department.
• Must prioritize and make suggestions to supervisor regarding periodical cleaning in assigned areas.
• Must assume responsibility for reporting safety hazards and cleaning emergency spills when sighted.
• Must perform responsibilities in a timely, efficient, cost‑effective, confidential and professional manner.
• Must have extensive contact with inter and intra departmental personnel, patients and their family members, physicians, and public.
• Must have good communication skills and reflect a positive, caring attitude toward staff and the public.
