Job Summary
The Nurse Practitioner at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for delivering high‑quality patient care in clinic and long‑term care settings under the direction of a physician preceptor. This role involves assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients while providing education on health, disease processes, and wellness to patients and their families. The Nurse Practitioner must demonstrate strong clinical competence, effective communication skills, and the ability to work independently while adhering to established standards and regulations.
PatientCare
- Assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients in clinic/long‑term care settings according to the scope of practice, approved protocols, and national standards directed by the physician preceptor.
- Provides patient and family education on disease processes, health, and wellness.
- Serves as a resource for community agencies.
- Ensures timely and accurate documentation of patient status and care activities, including treatments, procedures, and medications prescribed.
- Completes continuing education to maintain clinical competence and stay current with medical management changes.
- Participates in a variety of healthcare education activities.
- Education
- Master’s Degree in Nursing (required)
- PhD or Doctorate Degree (preferred)
- Work Experience
- 1–3 years nursing experience (required)
- Skills and Abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Maintains working knowledge of current technology
- Interaction with patients of all ages, from neonates to geriatrics
- Ability to work without close supervision
- Exercise independent judgment in a professional area
- Organize multiple tasks and manage workflow
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA guidelines
Appropriate state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner and any required certifications.
