Location: Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital

Salary range: $21.09 – $31.63 per hour

The Certified Anesthesia Tech supports the anesthesia team by providing perioperative technical and clinical assistance under the direct supervision of a licensed anesthesia provider. The role is essential for maintaining patient safety and operational efficiency across surgical and procedural settings.

• Understand care needs of age‑specific populations from neonate to geriatric.
• Assist with emergency, difficult, and awake fiber optics intubations.
• Prepare patients and assist with invasive line placement and monitoring; set up sterile fields for arterial, central venous, peripheral, cardiac, femoral lines, unilateral ventilation and TEE probe management.
• Support point‑of‑care glucose and blood gas testing, including blood draws from patient lines.
• Provide clinical and technical support during emergent situations.
• Assist with patient positioning and transfer.
• Prepare, disinfect, and troubleshoot all anesthesia‑related equipment; manage equipment movement and supplies for room turn‑over.
• Maintain inventory levels of supplies and equipment for anesthesia care.
• Provide support to anesthesia staff across other departments (ICUs, IR, MRI, GI, CT, EP, ED).
• Rotate to meet departmental and hospital needs; on‑call coverage is essential. AA/EOE.
• Serve as a resource for anesthesia staff in other departments.
• Support orientation of new staff to the Anesthesia Technician role.
• Attend in‑services and complete all online education for continuing education and maintain clinical competency.

• Basic Life Support Certification prior to or upon hire.
• ASATT Certification or completion of an Applied Science Anesthesia Technology Degree Program (ATDP) and intent to sit for certification within six months of hire.
• If not certified or not completing a degree program, must have 3‑5 years of OR/anesthesia clinical experience and commit to enroll in an ATDP within one year and attain certification within six months of program completion.
