The salary range for this position is $38.50 - $61.60 per hour. Placement within the range depends on experience and internal equity. For union-represented positions, the collective bargaining agreement guides placement.

DescriptionA registered professional nurse who prescribes, delegates, and coordinates nursing care to acutely ill patients, employing the nursing process and ANA standards.
Responsibilities- Performs all aspects of patient care to optimize safety and reduce errors.
- Follows the five medication rights and reduces medication errors.
- Demonstrates knowledge of medications and correct administration.
- Involves patient/family in care planning; develops and updates individualized plans.
- States rationale for clinical decisions based on critical thinking.
- Assesses, analyzes, and validates data to identify patient needs and risks.
- Assesses pain and applies pain management techniques; educates patients and families.
- Identifies learning needs, preferences, readiness, and support systems.
- Makes referrals for follow‑up as appropriate.
- Explains procedures, therapies, and treatments; evaluates and documents teaching responses.
- Uses appropriate resources to provide education.
- Conducts body and belongings search appropriately; aware of contraband policies.
- Collaborates with physicians and team to review care plans.
- Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with other team members.
- Coordinates care across health care team and departments for delivery and evaluation.
- Delegates appropriately to meet patient needs timely.
- Conducts telephone screening calls leading to appropriate disposition.
- Understanding patient placement criteria and communicating with Managed Care.
- Communicates with department manager regarding routine and non‑outline issues.
- Contributes to Utilization Review by providing nursing assessments.
- Participates and communicates with third‑party payers about the nursing component during Utilization Review.
Required
- Graduate of an accredited professional Nursing Program.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing for new hires after January 1, 2011.
- Licensed Registered Nurse in Illinois.
- CPR – Basic Life Support certification.
