American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN with prior travel experience for a critical access hospital, requiring a KS or compact license and a minimum of 2 years of L&D experience.
Requirements- Active KS or compact RN license required at time of consideration (no pending licenses)
- Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NRP
- Minimum of 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Centricity EMR experience preferred
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Skilled in sterile speculum exams, NST, reflex checks, sterile vaginal exams, and EFM
- Experience with external and internal fetal monitoring, IUPC placement and calibration
- Proficient in IV therapy, medication administration, and blood product administration
- Experience managing high-risk and vaginal deliveries, forceps/vacuum extractions, and C-sections
- Skilled in neonatal and newborn care including APGAR scoring and thermoregulation
- Experience with postpartum care including fundus, lochia, and perineum assessment
- Experience with surgical cases such as cervical cerclage preferred
- One professional reference required for consideration
- Critical access hospital setting within the Labor & Delivery unit
- Includes Antepartum, LDRP, and Mother/Baby care areas
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
- Every third weekend required
- Block scheduling considered on a case-by-case basis
- Facility delivers fewer than 100 births per month
- Floating to other units may be required
- Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum stages
- Assist with vaginal deliveries, C-section recovery, and neonatal care in the delivery room
- Administer medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
- Support breastfeeding and lactation per baby-friendly protocols
- Provide newborn care including cord care, circumcision assistance, and discharge teaching
- Monitor and manage high-risk conditions such as postpartum hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension
- Utilize fetal monitoring equipment to recognize and respond to abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
- No radius restriction for candidate eligibility
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
