As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing meals according to established menus and nutritional guidelines, while also accommodating dietary restrictions.

Your role will involve maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, tracking food usage, and collaborating with team members to meet client needs.

* Key Responsibilities:

*** Prepare and serve meals according to established menus and nutritional guidelines.
* Coordinate the daily menu by thawing and preparing frozen meat.
* Minimize food waste and utilize leftovers within mandated time frames.
* Clean equipment, dishes, and work areas, restocking and cleaning the cafeteria.
* Communicate with coworkers and other departments to meet client needs.
* Maintain a positive attitude towards clients and assist with tracking supply needs.
* Prepare food for special events as requested and document any changes.
* Give at least 4 hours notice if a scheduled shift needs to be missed.
** Education, Experience, and/or Credential

Qualifications:

*** Possess a High School Diploma or GED.
* Minimum of one year of employment history.
* Basic understanding of nutrition is beneficial.
*
* Additional Qualifications:

*** Must provide evidence that incumbent is free of infectious and contagious disease, such as TB, prior to beginning employment and annually thereafter.
* Successful completion of background check including criminal record, driving record, and abuse/neglect.
* Must have a valid driver's license.
* Successful completion of First Aid training is required.
* Successful completion of Serv Safe Course.
* Obtained Hepatitis A vaccination prior to handling food products – required for all St. Louis area staff.

* Physical Requirements:

*** This job requires heavy physical work, involving exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects.
* It also requires significant walking or standing, or sitting while using arm or leg controls, or working at a fast pace with constant pushing and pulling of materials.
* The employee must be able to stand, walk, sit, use their hands, reach, talk, hear, and have good vision, including close and distance vision.
* They should also be able to navigate stairs.
