• Grocery Clerk helps customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Informs customers of food specials and recommends grocery items to ensure they get the products they want and need.
• Checks product quality to ensure freshness. Reviews "sell by" dates and takes appropriate action.
• Provides customers with fresh and non-perishable grocery products that they have ordered.
• Recommends grocery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
• Labels, stocks, and inventories department merchandise.
• Reports product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Stays current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Adheres to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Ensures proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are maintained.
• Gains and maintains knowledge of products sold within the department and responds to questions and makes suggestions about products.
• Creates an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
• Reinforces safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions and notifying store management.
• Practices preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate department or store management of any items in need of repair.
• Notifies management of customer or employee accidents.
• Ability to work cooperatively in high-paced and sometimes stressful environments.
• Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner.
• Acts with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follows directions and seeks assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
• Provides support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
