Thacker Pass is the largest known lithium resource in the United States. Once complete, the mine and processing facilities will produce more lithium carbonate than any other facility in the United States by far — enough to power 1 million electric vehicles per year.

As the EPCM contractor for Lithium Americas, Bechtel is responsible for managing and integrating the efforts of a team contractors engineering and building the facility. We are also managing procurement of about $1 Billion in goods and services.

Earth work began in 2023 and design and procurement of long-lead equipment is underway.

The project is located in the high desert and wide-open spaces of north-central Nevada about 25 miles from the Oregon border, 1 hour northwest of Winnemucca, Nevada and 3 hours northeast of Reno.

Planned with sustainability and the environment in mind, the facility will use its excess process heat to generate electricity and will recycle process water up to seven times.

Once the second phase of the project is complete, Thacker Pass will produce more than 16 times the current U.S. output of lithium.

The Piping Field Engineer reports to the Lead Piping Field Engineer/Project Field Engineer and is responsible for the technical oversight of all Piping activities in his area. The selected applicant shall provide technical direction the FE group, as well as, to the direct hire and subcontractor work force as well as supervision. #LI-NP1

• Must have experience with construction in all areas of piping installation.
• Coordinate with supervision the work schedule and any material deliveries required.
• Complete training requirements assigned.
• Preparation of pipe installation work packages.
• Inspection of field installations and completion of associated documentation.
• Responsible for quantity take-off, control, reporting and forecasting for all piping quantities.
• Prepare field change documentation and as-built documentation as required.
• Interface with engineering office to resolve design and constructability issue.
• Work with Procurement's expediting team to ensure the delivery of vendor materials to support the projects schedule.
• Assure that materials are stored properly to ensure environmental protection.
• Recommend design or installation improvements to improve safety on the project.

• University/BS degree in Engineering with 8-10 years field piping engineering experience is desired, or 12-14 years of relevant experience.

• Experience with Bechtel direct hire craft preferred.
• Contract management experience.
• Understanding of applicable Bechtel work processes including Standard Work Process Procedures is preferred.
• Familiarity with Bechtel Standard (BSAPs) including ACONEX, TEAMWorks, Bechtel Productivity System, PTR, eSub and other automation tools which are used on Bechtel projects is an asset.
