Project Overview: Thacker Pass is the largest known lithium resource in the United States. Once complete, the mine and processing facilities will produce more lithium carbonate than any other facility in the United States by far – enough to power 1 million electric vehicles per year. As the EPCM contractor for Lithium Americas, Bechtel is responsible for managing and integrating the efforts of a team of contractors, engineering, and building the facility.
We are also managing procurement of about $1 Billion in goods and services.
Job Summary: The Piping Field Engineer reports to the Lead Piping Field Engineer/Project Field Engineer and is responsible for the technical oversight of all Piping activities in his area. The selected applicant shall provide technical direction to the FE group and to the direct hire and subcontractor workforce as well as supervision. #LI-NP1
- Must have experience with construction in all areas of piping installation.
- Coordinate with supervision the work schedule and any material deliveries required.
- Complete training requirements assigned.
- Preparation of pipe installation work packages.
- Inspection of field installations and completion of associated documentation.
- Responsible for quantity take-off, control, reporting and forecasting for all piping quantities.
- Prepare field change documentation and as-built documentation as required.
- Interface with engineering office to resolve design and constructability issue.
- Assist superintendents and subcontractors in constructability and quality issues.
- Work with the suppliers to ensure compliance with project drawings and specifications.
- Prepare material requisitions, coordinate, and review vendor drawings.
- Material receipt inspections as required.
- Reviews specifications, inspection reports, delivery schedules, instruction manuals, and technical data.
- Assist with preparation of construction estimates.
- Recommend design or installation improvements to improve safety on the project.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- University/BS degree in Engineering with 10-13 years field piping engineering experience is desired, or 14-17 years of relevant experience.
Required Knowledge and
Skills:
- Experience with Bechtel direct hire craft preferred.
- Contract management experience.
- Understanding of applicable Bechtel work processes including Standard Work Process Procedures is preferred.
- Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs) including ACONEX, TEAMWorks, Bechtel Productivity System, PTR, eSub and other automation tools which are used on Bechtel projects is an asset.
- Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
- Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving ability.
- Knowledge of multiple technical engineering disciplines relating to the construction of industrial projects.
- Thorough knowledge of construction activities as they relate to engineering disciplines, cost and scheduling, and contract administration.
- Knowledge and understanding of the application and requirements of the Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Handbook and the Bechtel Core Processes as they relate to area of responsibility.
