The Senior Accountant will complete, support and guide assurance and non-assurance engagements for a variety of clients, lead consulting engagements or special assignments, identify client service opportunities, and contribute to the overall quality and success of engagements.
Responsibilities- Complete, support and guide assurance and non-assurance engagements for a variety of clients
- Lead consulting engagements or special assignments and identify client service opportunities
- Preparation and review of financial statements
- Complete corporate and personal income tax returns
- Identify and resolve engagement issues
- Train and mentor junior staff
- Develop and maintain positive and productive working relationships
- Support practice and professional development initiatives
- Participate in business development initiatives
- Proactively follow up with clients and build positive working relationships
- Respond effectively to stakeholder or client requests or queries and keep the team apprised of potential issues
- Postsecondary degree or diploma in Accounting or Business
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting; public practice experience is preferred
- Strong understanding of full cycle accounting processes
- Experience training and mentoring entry-level employees
- Experience with Case Ware, Tax Prep, Sage 300 (ACCPAC), Sage 50 (Simply Accounting), Quick Books, and Quick Books Online is an asset
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly MS Excel
- Ability to prioritize and manage deliverables, adhering to time and budget constraints
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent client service skills with the aptitude to understand clients’ business and maintain strong client relationships
