Controller, Accounting, Financial Reporting

Salary Range: $92,000.00 To $ Annually

The Louis Riel Capital Corporation (LRCC) is a Manitoba Métis Federation-owned financial institution created to provide personal and commercial financial services for Red River Métis Citizens and businesses.

LRCC seeks to fill one full-time Controller position located at 333 Main Street in Winnipeg, MB
. The Controller is responsible for assisting with and performing various full-cycle accounting functions, financial reporting, and analysis. The salary range for this position is $92,000-$130,000 annually dependent on education and experience combined.

• Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll;
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements;
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reporting;
• Manage the month‑end and year‑end close processes;
• Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls and accounting policies;
• Ensure compliance with tax and regulatory requirements;
• Coordinate audits and act as the primary liaison with external auditors and tax advisors;
• Prepare and monitor budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses;
• Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision‑making;
• Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff;
• Manage cash flow, banking relationships;
• Oversee revenue recognition and expense allocation processes;
• Support system implementations, upgrades, and process improvements;
• Partner with senior leadership to improve financial performance and operational efficiency.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline with a CPA designation is required;
• 7 years’ of experience in progressive accounting or finance is required;
• Must have experience in a leadership role, overseeing staff and departmental functions;
• Experience in public accounting or a regulated environment is an asset;
• ERP implementation or system conversion experience an asset;
• Extensive experience in drafting correspondence and preparing reports;
• Acceptable Enhanced Criminal Record Check and Credit Check is required;
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills;
• Experience working with Boards and/or committees is preferred;
• Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, and LRCC programs and services is a definite asset; and,
• Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle is required.
