Responsibilities
- Lead and manage audit engagements for a diverse portfolio of clients across various industries
- Participate in consulting engagements or special assignments and identify client service opportunities
- Supervise, develop and lead a team of accounting professionals
- Identifying and cultivating new sales and/or client service opportunities
- Complete corporate and personal income tax returns
- Compiling feedback on staff performance throughout the year and conducting regular performance reviews
- Leading practice and professional development initiatives
- Assess risk, controls, and accounting processes to offer clients solutions and recommendations
- Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA) with at least 5 years’ public accounting experience; 3-5 years with an assurance focus
- A solid foundation of accounting and assurance education with experience executing Audit, Notice to Reader and Review engagements
- Strong working knowledge of the Canadian Auditing Standards, Standard for Review Engagements, Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises, and Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profit Organizations
- Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining trusted advisor relationships
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, mentor and develop others to build high performing teams
- Experience preparing tax returns (Corporate, Personal, Trust, T4s and T5s ) is an asset
- Experience supervising staff on multiple engagements
- Experience with Caseware, Profile, Sage 300 (ACCPAC), Sage 50 (Simply Accounting), Quick Books, and Quick Books Online is an asset
- Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills
- Strong Microsoft Office skills particularly MS Excel
- Excellent client services skills with an aptitude to understand the clients’ business and maintain strong client relationships
- Strong understanding of a client-focused environment including related deadlines and the ability to work to meet those deadlines
