Qualifications

MINIMUM FORMAL EDUCATION/TRAINING:

  • University degree or college diploma in Business Administration, Public Administration, Operations Management, Facilities Management, Project Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and progressively responsible operational or administrative experience may be considered.
  • Training or coursework related to operational management, facilities coordination, procurement, organizational systems, project coordination, or workplace safety is considered an asset.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 5–7 years of progressively responsible experience in operational, administrative, facilities, or service coordination roles within a complex organizational environment is required.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating administrative operations, operational workflows, facilities-related activities, or service delivery functions is required.
  • Experience hiring, supervising, coaching, and evaluating staff is required.
  • Experience addressing employee relations issues, attendance management, and performance concerns is required.
  • Experience participating in recruitment, workforce planning, and organizational design activities is required.
  • Experience supervising administrative or operational support staff, including assigning work, monitoring workloads, and supporting staff development is required.
  • Experience coordinating operational logistics, organizational systems, inventories, supplies, storage areas, or shared resources is required.
  • Experience supporting facilities-related activities including office moves, workplace setups, space coordination, furniture placement, or infrastructure-related activities is required.
  • Experience reviewing operational requests and identifying practical, organized, and resource-conscious solutions is required.
  • Experience coordinating procurement activities, reviewing expenditures, and exercising financial or purchasing authority within established operational or institutional guidelines is required.
  • Experience coordinating operational projects, workflow improvements, or administrative process enhancements is required.
  • Experience working within a large public-sector, healthcare, or post-secondary environment is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with University of Manitoba administrative systems, procurement procedures, and operational policies is considered an asset.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to identify inconsistencies, maintain accurate and well-structured administrative systems and documentation, and support organized, functional, and professionally maintained workplace environments required.
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills including assigning work, monitoring workloads, and supporting staff performance and development required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to assess operational issues and identify practical, organized, and resource-conscious solutions required.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain organized, functional, and efficient operational environments, systems, and workflows is required.
  • Ability to assess facilities, furniture, equipment, storage, supply, and technology-related requests and determine appropriate operational solutions is required.
  • Ability to coordinate facilities-related activities including operational setups, office moves, space organization, and shared resource management is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with academic leadership, administrative staff, vendors, and central University units is required.
