Overview
POSITION TYPE TERM (6 Months), FULL-TIME (Mon – Fri, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm) (Occasional shift in school age program 12:30 pm – 8:30 pm)
Job SummaryThe Early Childhood Educator will primarily support the Preschool Program (8 children), ensuring a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment. This role involves planning and implementing activities that foster social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
Responsibilities- Assist in supervision of all children and in ensuring that all children are accurately signed in and out at each attendance period.
- Prepare daily activities based on the individual needs and characteristics of the children in the program, providing appropriate stimulation and nurturing.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times.
- Meet with other staff, parents or other professionals as required.
- Develop rapport with the parents and provide role modelling, advice and encouragement and support.
- Early Childhood Educator classification required; a minimum of one year of related experience preferred.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Understanding of addictions and their effects on children.
- Knowledge of Indigenous history, culture, practices, customs, and beliefs.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Self-motivated, well-organized, and able to exercise sound judgment.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector check and child abuse registry check (no older than three months)
- A valid driver’s license with a reliable vehicle and a satisfactory drivers abstract.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Mental Health First Aid Certificate is considered an asset.
- Valid First Aid / CPR Certification an asset.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must demonstrate a strong work ethic and be reliable.
- Maintain strict confidentiality guidelines regarding all clients, conversations, and referrals.
