About Assiniboine Park Conservancy

Creating the future vision for one of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada’s most prized treasures, Assiniboine Park Conservancy (APC) located at 55 Pavilion Crescent in Winnipeg is the not-for-profit organization that oversees Assiniboine Park’s operations and ensures its ongoing redevelopment and financial viability. Our team is inspired to create and deliver extraordinary experiences for the people who visit and use the Park and Zoo including building friendly, supportive, effective relationships with stakeholders, community and the general public.

The Opportunity

We are looking to hire two (2) Event Coordinators to complete 1 year terms at Assiniboine Park Conservancy. The Event Coordinator is part of the Community & Special Events team responsible for the successful planning and delivery of community, private, and corporate events across the Assiniboine Park Conservancy (APC). Reporting to the Director, Community & Special Events, this position supports the operational and client service aspects of event execution, working closely with the Event Coordinators and Operations Coordinator to ensure seamless coordination and consistent guest experiences.

The Event Coordinator manages the full cycle of non-catering events — including booking, planning, scheduling, contracting, execution, and post-event evaluation — while maintaining accurate documentation and tracking in Event Pro. This role engages with clients to plan events that meet their needs and achieve departmental sales goals, supporting both community initiatives and revenue-generating opportunities. This position requires attention to detail and the ability to organize workflow, establish priorities and maintain confidentiality with a high degree of accuracy.

Working collaboratively with the Community & Special Events team, the Coordinator assists with logistics, vendor coordination, setup and teardown, and post-event analysis, including client follow-up to ensure satisfaction and identify improvements.

The Event Coordinator will collaborate to develop new events and to utilize APC’s event scheduling database (Event Pro) to identify new client event opportunities to past clients. This position will also coordinate event setup and take down, ensure effective execution of plans that meet the needs of the clients and complete a post-event analysis with a client follow-up on customer satisfaction.

A thorough knowledge of APC’s venues, green spaces, and facilities is essential to provide accurate information and pricing. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is required to support event operations.

Required Education, Training, and Experience
  • A high school diploma and/or GED equivalent.
  • A post‑secondary diploma and/or certificate in Hospitality & Event Management, Project Management, Tourism Certified Professional, or related field would be an asset.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in event planning, coordination and/or event management.
  • Excellent proficiency with computer programs including Microsoft Office software and a demonstrated aptitude for quickly learning new software programs.
  • Ability to gain proficiency in the use and operation of audio‑visual equipment.
  • Must possess a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.
APC Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion

Assiniboine Park Conservancy is committed to creating and maintaining a diverse and inclusive workforce. Employment equity may be a factor in selection for this competition. Consideration will be given to Indigenous people, racialized minorities, women, and persons with disabilities.

Accommodations are available upon request during the assessment and selection process.
