Unposting Date::59 PMYour role ICI Radio-Canada Manitoba is looking for a cross-platform video journalist to be based in Winnipeg. The working language is French. In this role, you will be assigned to develop a digital content offering.

You will report on a wide range of stories, spanning the environment, the economy, politics, social and Indigenous issues.

You understand the diverse and changing population of Indigenous communities and the importance of reflecting that in our content.

You have a strong connection to Indigenous communities across the country and deep knowledge of issues that affect Indigenous people.

The work schedule may include weekend shifts.

Excellent English and French is required.

Key tasks:

Develop and maintain contacts with a variety of sources to ensure current knowledge of issues and events in the coverage area relevant to the objectives of the role.

Gather information from various  interested in and knowledgeable about topics that engage young francophones and francophiles across the province.

Analyze facts and information gathered and draw conclusions or raise issues requiring further investigation.

Arrange for and conduct interviews.

Decide which elements should be included in an item, their order, length and sequence, as well as the method of transition from one element to another.

Develop shot lists and sequences that contribute to the focus and mood of the story.

Prepare, align, set up and operate an ENG/EFP unit, a smartphone and ancillary equipment, ensuring optimal audio, video and technical quality under prevailing conditions.

Understand digital media and consumption patterns of digital users.

Light the subject or scene and compose program visual material using a handheld camera. Ensure that the material produced meets the technical and esthetic requirements for editing.

Deliver all recorded materials, including shot lists and sequences.

Edit recorded items on appropriate/available editing systems.

Prepare and write scripts, continuity and headlines.

Report the story, either on camera or in voiceover  flexible to work regularly for television, radio and/or digital platforms.

Drive a motor vehicle in the performance of the job.

This role requires full-time on-site presence.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

Combination of education and experience equivalent to a university degree plus three (3) years’ practical, relevant experience, or a community college diploma and five (5) years’ practical, relevant experience in the field.

Excellent writing, storytelling and interviewing skills on both digital and broadcast media.

Ease with live reporting.

Bilingualism (English and French) required.
