Under the direction of the Team Leads, as the Customer Service Centre Clerk A you are responsible for Transit products which includes selling transit smart cards, loading various transit fare products on the card, and are accountable for the inventory and cash allocated to you. You will also provide transit information to the public and must have a good knowledge of routes, transit plus and transit operations policies/procedures and passenger self-help technology tools such as Navigo, Bus Txt etc.

As the Customer Service Centre Clerk A you will:

  • Respond to public inquiries both in person and over the telephone and direct telephone calls as required.
  • Sell Transit products (bus tickets/passes/smart cards/merchandise) and accept WINNpass payments, distribute and input WINNpass application forms.
  • Take pictures as required and create Photo  for Transit concession products (bus passes/smart cards) and student identification.
  • Replenish printed materials and assist walk in customers with transit trip planning as required and respond to any inquiries.
  • Greet and assist Winnipeg Transit customers.

Your education and qualifications include:

  • High School diploma or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Two years of office related experience, preferably with prior experience in a customer service setting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with basic word processing applications (Word), spreadsheets (Excel) and email (Outlook).
  • Demonstrated ability to keyboard 40 w.p.m.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and maintain accuracy.
  • Previous experience in working with and balancing cash, debit and credit cards and manage product inventory. Point of sale experience would be an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization and maintain the appropriate level of professionalism with the general public in accordance with the Respectful Workplace Standard.
  • Ability to maintain composure when working under pressure and handling stressful situations.
  • Ability to work with minimum direct supervision and to initiate responsible action.
  • Effective verbal communication skills with the ability to follow instructions and express ideas clearly and concisely.

  • Basic knowledge of Winnipeg Transit's operational system (i.e. routes and fares) or ability to attain same within a reasonable amount of time.
