Position: Intermediate – Senior Landscape Architect (Full-Time)

Intermediate – Senior Landscape Architect (Full-Time) McGowan Russell Group | 825 St. Joseph St., Winnipeg, MB

McGowan Russell Group is looking for an Intermediate to Senior level Landscape Architect to join our Team. We are seeking candidates with a minimum of 8-10 years in design and contract administration. Responsibilities will include analysis and design, presentation drawing, working drawing and specification production, contract administration, and client development. Strong skills in design, communication, presentation graphics, and drafting are required.

Our office is a PC based firm using Autocad, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and Sketchup. Competence in these programs is required.

The successful applicant will work closely with the Principal Landscape Architects to develop, and lead projects from the design and construction phases though to completion. As an Intermediate to Senior Landscape Architect, you will help oversee other team members, review drawings and communicate directly with approval agencies, clients and contractors. We are looking for a long-term employee that is dedicated to advancing their interest in the company.

About Us:

McGowan Russell Group has a 35 year history in Winnipeg working on a wide variety of public and private sector projects ranging from multi-family and commercial site design and zoning analysis, streetscapes, subdivisions, park planning and urban design. While our focus is in Manitoba, McGowan Russell also operates in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario. We are currently an office of 7 dedicated landscape architects, designers and administration.

A few of our recent notable projects in Winnipeg include:
Southwest Rapid Transit Stations, True North Square, SHED District Streetscaping, Richardson Plaza, 360 Main Street, Maples Playground and Splash Pad, Bruce Oake Recovery Centre, Molson Memory Care, Park City Commons and The Aurora at North Point Development. Outside of Winnipeg, MRG has been involved in the Wunnumin Lake Campground Expansion, Winnipeg Beach Campground Development, Falcon Lake Townsite and Boardwalk, Westhawk Townsite Redevelopment and the Spruce Woods Masterplan and Campground Redevelopment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead or contribute to the full design process from conceptual to construction drawings
  • Assist in proposal development and project presentations
  • Client development
    - Client liaison and development of new projects
  • Analysis and Preliminary Design
  • Produce working drawings including site and planting plans and landscape details to MRG standards using AutoCAD
  • Production of project specifications for construction
  • Contract Administration
Candidate

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Registered Landscape Architect
  • Full Member of MALA (or eligible to apply)
  • 8-10+ years of professional experience in a similar office setting
  • Strong knowledge of City Approvals, documentation and construction process
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is mandatory
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and Microsoft Office Programs
  • Experience in 3D based modelling such as AutoCAD 3D, Sketchup, Rhino or Revit would be considered an asset
  • Work as a creative, motivated and self-driven team member
  • Possess strong communication skills, effective time management and ability to work independently and collaboratively on multiple projects in an evolving and fast-paced environment.
