This role focuses on designing and building polished websites using Shopify, Word Press, and modern front‑end page‑building tools. You will combine visual design with practical site implementation. The role includes layout, responsive behaviour, theme and component configuration, content setup, e-commerce or CMS features, quality checks, and coordination with developers when deeper technical work is required.
You will work with designers, developers, marketers, content teams, project managers, and client‑service teams. Clear communication, reliable follow‑through, and careful work are expected.
AI‑assisted tools may be used for content preparation, page structure, image optimization, QA checklists, research, and documentation. All AI‑assisted work must be reviewed for accuracy, relevance, confidentiality, and fit before it is shared or used.
One in‑house opening. This role may be based in Calgary, Vancouver, or Toronto. These are alternative work locations for the same position, not separate vacancies.
Essential duties:
Design responsive website pages and components from briefs, brand systems, and approved content.
Build and configure pages in Shopify and Word Press using themes, blocks, templates, or approved page builders.
Set up navigation, content structures, product or collection pages, forms, and routine CMS elements.
Apply brand typography, imagery, spacing, hierarchy, and responsive behaviour consistently.
Coordinate with developers when custom code, integrations, or technical changes are required.
Optimize images and content for practical web use and page performance.
Complete cross‑device checks for layout, links, forms, content, and visual consistency.
Prepare client or internal handoff notes and maintain organized site assets and documentation.
Essential requirements:
Practical experience designing and building Shopify, Word Press, or comparable CMS websites.
Strong responsive web‑design, layout, typography, and visual‑hierarchy skills.
Working knowledge of themes, templates, CMS content, and web quality assurance.
Holds a valid Dex Professional Specialist Certification (DEX-PSP) in the Arts, Media & Creative Production domain.
Preferred qualifications:
Basic HTML, CSS, Liquid, JavaScript, or front‑end implementation knowledge.
Experience with e‑commerce merchandising, product content, or conversion‑focused design.
Experience working across several client websites or brands.
