Automotive Technology Instructor

Are you an Auto technician or own/manage a repair shop? Are you feeling the shortage of well-trained Automotive Technicians in Dutchess County? You can be the experienced Auto Technician we need to teach the next generation of Auto Technicians and build the workforce! This is a part-time evening position, at the Adult Learning Institute, between 9 - 12 hours per week.

$30- $40 per hour (depending on experience)

The chosen candidate will lead a cohort of adult students through the Automotive Technology curriculum. There are 3 courses:
Automotive 1 Basic Systems;
Automotive 2:
Troubleshooting and Problem Solving in Basic Systems; and Automotive 3 More Advanced Systems. Each course is between 120 - 140 hours long. Classes include lecture and lab time to introduce systems, tools, maintenance, repair, customer service, and shop safety, and more advanced systems and troubleshooting as the classes continue. Instruction in employability skills such as career skills including resume and cover letter writing and interviewing will be provided by an ALI career counselor.

The goal is to prepare students to enter the workforce and to take the ASE G1 test following the 3 semesters.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in the automotive field with an associate's degree, but the right candidate's years in the field and experience level and certifications will be taken into account over education.
