Winnipeg Adult Education Centre - Adult EAL Program

180 Main Street. (2nd Floor)

Description

The Adult EAL program of Winnipeg Adult Education Centre is a LINC program for newcomers to Canada that are pre‑CLB or CLB 1 - 4. The program is run in partnership with IRCC, and all students are referred from WELARC. We have students from all around the world. With small class size and professional instructors, we provide high quality English instruction to students using the PBLA framework.

Classes are 3 hours long, starting at one of 9:15 AM, 12:45 PM, or 5:45 PM.

This position is for teachers to be added to our Adult EAL on‑call substitute list.

Candidates should be outgoing people, excited to work with newcomers, capable of flexible thinking and able to adapt quickly. Ability to work evening shifts is very important. Candidates should have experience in EAL instruction.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor of Education or equivalent
  • Manitoba Teaching Certificate in good standing
  • TESL certificate, (candidates may be accepted if they are currently working towards a TESL certificate but have not yet completed the program)
  • Current criminal record check/vulnerable sector check
  • EAL teaching experience
  • Knowledge of CLB and PBLA framework
  • Respect in Schools Certificate
