Forum Art Centre is seeking creative, organized, and enthusiastic Summer Art Camp Instructors!

In this dynamic role, you’ll lead a half day or full day, week‑long portion of our Summer Art Camps for children and/or teens. Working closely with the Day Camp Leader and Education Programs Assistant to guide summer campers through a safe, fun, inspiring, and welcoming experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan a week‑long series of age‑appropriate art projects based on available art supplies as discussed. Each week of camp is either for ages 7‑12 or 12‑15.
  • Discuss with staff what art supplies are available and what may need to be purchased for your week of camp.
  • Provide hands‑on instruction in planned art projects of your own design.
  • Be prepared to adapt planned projects to better suit the group (if needed).
  • Plan a series of other engaging activities for campers. Each day of camp includes a balance of inside art making time with outdoor activities in Coronation Park and occasionally Norwood Community Centre.
  • Supervise and address campers’ needs for support with the assistance of the Day Camp Leader and Education Programs Assistant.
  • Communicate frequently with the Programming Manager and Outreach Co‑ordinator on health and safety concerns for campers.
  • Help supervise camper drop‑off (for morning shifts) or pick‑up (for afternoon shifts). Be available to answer questions from parents and caregivers during this period.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Fine Arts, or equivalent experience as a visual artist.
  • Experience working or volunteering with children and youth.
  • Experience as an art instructor (workshops, courses, or other classroom‑based teaching experiences).
Beneficial Qualifications
  • First Aid Certification
  • Experience working with neurodiverse children and youth.
  • Bachelor of Education and in‑school teaching experience.

Start Date: July or August 2026

Contract Duration: 1 Week or more depending on availability. Art Instructors at Forum Art Centre are independent contractors.

Hours: Summer Art Camp Instructors work half days (4 hours) in either the morning (9:00 am – 1:00 pm) or afternoon (12:30 pm – 4:30 pm), or full days (9 am – a 1 hour unpaid lunch break), from Monday to Friday for the duration of their contract.

All art instructors, staff, board members and volunteers at Forum Art Centre are required to provide a Child Abuse Registry Check and Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
