ASL Tutor Deaf Students

Position: ASL Tutor for Deaf Students
Enhance the ASL skills of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in the Winnipeg School Division. This role focuses on teaching vocabulary, grammar, and cultural aspects through engaging activities.

As an ASL Tutor, you'll work with K-12 students in various schools across Winnipeg. Your expertise will guide individual or small group sessions, lasting 30 to 60 minutes. You will prepare lesson materials and track student progress, while collaborating with teachers to align instructional goals based on assessments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Instruct students in ASL vocabulary and grammar rules

• Conduct individual or group sessions in various school settings

• Prepare instructional materials ahead of sessions

• Maintain accurate records of each student's progress

• Share insights on Deaf culture and student advancements

Requirements:

• Must be a native ASL user with Deaf Culture knowledge

• Experience instructing ASL to school-age students preferred

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently

• Knowledge of the elementary/secondary curriculum is a plus

• Commitment to anti-racism, equity, and inclusion
