The School of Medicine

Toronto Metropolitan University’s School of Medicine has been designed from the ground up to shift the paradigm of healthcare delivery and improve the well‑being of individuals, families and communities. The Opportunity

We are seeking a SRCI Specialist to join the School of Medicine. This role will provide consultation, facilitation, and a range of supports to researchers to advance SRCI across the School of Medicine community and enable learner and clinical faculty engagement in research. The Specialist will lead pre‑award processes and grant development, including identifying funding opportunities aligned to researcher needs and strategic objectives.

This role supports clinical faculty and project teams through all phases of research projects, from planning to implementation to dissemination. The Specialist will also design and deliver research capacity‑building initiatives including workshops, tools, and resources, and contribute to internal SRCI programming. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in building the School of Medicine’s research infrastructure from the ground up, establishing the essential processes that will support our clinical faculty and researchers for years to come.

Responsibilities
  • SRIC advising, facilitation and capacity building
  • Leading the design of pre‑award processes to facilitate competitive grant applications
  • Providing information, guidance, and writing and editing assistance to clinical faculty and others in developing and submitting grant applications and research award nominations
  • Developing and delivering support programs and resources for researchers
  • SRIC project planning, development and management
  • Advancement of SoM’s Key Performance Indicators
  • HR management including managing and supervising research staff

Qualifications
  • Completion of a Master’s degree in health sciences, public health, social sciences, education, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in research facilitation in a post‑secondary environment or affiliated research hospital, including direct experience developing and executing research projects and supporting project teams.
  • Equivalent experience or a combination of equivalent experience and education may be accepted in place of education.
  • Experience writing and administering research proposals and drafting project budgets.
