Empower visually impaired students' academic journeys as a Special Education Technician. Collaborate with educators and utilize braille and adaptive tools to ensure their success.
As part of the team in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Complementary and Compassionate Services, you will support visually impaired or blind students.
Your role focuses on teaching braille, guiding equipment usage, and ensuring inclusion within the classroom. You will engage with parents and external resources to tailor learning materials that meet the unique needs of each student.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support visually impaired students' inclusion in classrooms
• Instruct braille reading and writing techniques
• Implement psycho educational support with the student counsellor
• Collaborate with families and partners for resources
• Develop intervention strategies based on individual student needs
Requirements:
• College diploma in Special Education
• Two years of relevant experience
• Knowledge of Braille and working with the blind
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Inuktitut/French is a plus
• Experience in Nunavik is an asset
