Student Life Animator – Regular (58% Coordinator – Sports Excellence Program | 42% Fitness Instructor)
This full‑time regular position is available July 1, 2026 at Heritage Regional High School, located at 7445 chemin de Chambly in Saint‑Hubert.
Nature of WorkThe Student Life Animator role involves organizing, leading, and supporting student activities that align with the school’s educational goals, fostering overall student development in a welcoming and dynamic setting. The position has a dual focus: supporting a specialised Sports Excellence Program and the broader student population through extracurricular and co‑curriculum initiatives.
ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities are divided as follows: 58% Coordinator duties focused on the Sports Excellence Program, and 42% Fitness Instructor duties centered on physical activity and student engagement.
Coordinator Role (58%) – Sports Excellence Program- Act as the go‑to person for all aspects of the program – from sports to academics, being knowledgeable about both high school and community‑level sports.
- Create and manage a significant budget specific to the Sports Excellence Program.
- Coordinate the application process for elementary students (September–November) and for high school students (mid‑April–May).
- Collaborate with outside sports associations that have formal ententes with the school.
- Monitor and track students’ academic and behavioural performance to ensure compliance with program expectations.
- Coordinate transportation and facility rentals for afternoon training sessions.
- Assist in hiring outside specialists and preparing timesheets.
- Maintain consistent communication with all program stakeholders, including staff, external coaches, parents, and students.
- Work closely with coaching staff to prepare bi‑annual progress reports for all program participants.
- Evaluate the activity needs of the student body in collaboration with students, school staff, and partners.
- Plan, organise, lead, or coordinate a variety of sociocultural, athletic, and educational activities that promote student engagement and well‑being.
- Facilitate the organisation of inclusive, school‑wide events and themed activities.
- Encourage student involvement in the planning and execution of activities.
- Deliver fitness instruction to students, particularly those in the basketball, track, and hockey Sports Excellence concentrations.
- Recruit, coordinate, and supervise volunteers and staff involved in activity delivery.
- Contribute to budgeting and reporting related to animator‑led activities.
- Maintain inventory and ensure availability and good condition of materials; participate in securing shared spaces or services with external partners.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to support events and activities tied to the academic curriculum, such as student exchanges, theatre productions, and sports competitions.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with external organisations to complement both academic and extracurricular programming.
- Occasionally represent the school at community or regional events.
- Honours bachelor’s degree in physical education, recreational studies, adult education, social communication, animation, or other related fields, including relevant coursework.
- A degree in Kinesiology is an asset.
- Experience working with youth or adolescents, ideally in a school, community, or recreational setting.
- Ability to handle group dynamics, support positive behaviour, and de‑escalate conflicts.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with students, staff, parents, and community partners.
- Fluency in English and French.
- Familiarity with how schools operate, especially in the context of student services or extracurricular activities.
In accordance with the Professionals’ Agreement: $54,862 to $91,023 per 35-hour week, according to qualifications and experience.
