Make a difference as a Graduation Coach at TCDSB, focusing on mentorship for Black students. Implement advocacy initiatives and culturally relevant practices for student success.
In this crucial 12-month role, you will mentor Black students, ensuring their educational needs are prioritized. You're expected to promote anti-racism training among staff while developing strategies to support at-risk learners. Creating an affirming environment will be essential for fostering student engagement and success.
Key Responsibilities:
• Mentor students and advocate for their educational needs
• Engage students using culturally relevant methodologies
• Develop long-term support plans for at-risk learners
• Facilitate access to academic support and community resources
• Create opportunities for students to share their experiences
Requirements:
• 3-year college diploma or degree in a relevant field
• At least two years of mentoring experience
• Preference for candidates identifying as Black/African Canadian
• Knowledge of community resources available for students
• Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills
