Role:
Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator. This position is a CUPE
4207-1 vacancy.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Scheduled contact time with students
  • Non‑classroom time, including preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as required
  • Marker‑Grader responsibilities
  • Available to meet with Instructor as necessary, between 9 AM and 5 PM
Compensation

Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications held.

Employees who do NOT hold a 4‑year honours degree or a 3‑year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate - $ hour.

Employees who hold a 4‑year honours degree or a 3‑year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate - $ hour.

In cases where additional duties are required, hours shall be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 3rd Year complete in the CHYS BA or CHYS BA/BEd program, or be entering and/or continuing the CHYS MA or CHYS PhD program.
  • Must have previously completed CHYS 3P15 or equivalent*, and obtained 80% or higher. Previous successful experience as a Teaching Assistant for CHYS 3P15 will be considered as equivalent.
  • Current applied knowledge of SPSS for Windows. Cover letter must detail experience.
  • Must have effective communication skills including the ability to explain subject material to students. Provide, if available, an evaluation of successful previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or Marker‑Grader.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • It is the applicant's responsibility to identify the course for consideration of equivalency. For courses taken at Brock, identify the course (XXXX 3P00). For courses taken elsewhere provide a copy of your transcript, highlight the course and provide the course description. Failure to provide the required documentation to support the request for equivalency will result in an incomplete application.
