This term-based position supports immigrant and refugee students at the University of Winnipeg. Mentors will facilitate first-year students' cultural transitions, providing crucial resources for their academic journeys. This role not only makes a significant impact on students' lives but also hones your mentorship skills for the future.
Key Responsibilities:
• Match with newcomers for supportive mentorship
• Organize social events to boost student engagement
• Lead campus tours for first-year students
• Attend community events with the IRSS team
• Communicate regularly to build rapport with mentees
Requirements:
• Current or recent UWinnipeg student
• Minimum 30 credit hours and GPA of 3.0
• Experience overcoming cultural and language barriers
• Strong active listening and support skills
• Commitment to work throughout the academic year
