Position Summary
Prairie Presbyterian Church is seeking a passionate and spiritually grounded Youth Ministry Leader to lead and disciple middle school and high school students in their faith journey. This individual will create a welcoming, Christ-centered environment where youth can grow spiritually, build meaningful relationships, and become active members of the church community.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, mentor, and leader with a heart for young people. They also will have the ability to communicate well with parents, care-givers, and the overall church membership, ensuring that the youth ministry is connected to the whole church.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and lead regular events, outings, and small group gatherings on evenings and some Sundays

Build relationships with youth and provide spiritual guidance and mentorship

Recruit, train, and support volunteers and leaders

Encourage youth participation in church worship and service opportunities

Maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment

Collaborate with church staff and leadership on ministry goals and events

Qualifications/Preferred Qualities

Strong personal Christian faith

Agreement with Prairie’s Belonging statement and the Presbyterian Church in Canada’s basic theology

Experience working with youth in a church, ministry, or educational setting

Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Ability to connect with and mentor teenagers from diverse backgrounds

Degree or working towards a degree in the field of theology, ministry or education would be an asset

Energetic and relational personality

Willingness to lead some aspects of worship

Experience with social media and digital outreach

Strong teamwork and volunteer development skills

The ideal person would be creative, flexible, and a problem solver

Non-judgemental and accepting approach to working with teens

Compensation

$25-$35/hour depending on experience

3 weeks vacation
