Position Overview
The College of Nursing, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, invites applications for a full‑time tenured or probationary (tenure‑track) position at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. This position is intended for Clinician Scientists whose work advances nursing‑relevant knowledge through interdisciplinary, systems‑level, population, or global perspectives.
The successful candidate will contribute to the College’s mission through research, teaching, and service that strengthen health systems, address health inequities, and improve population and global health outcomes. The position aligns with the College’s commitment to interdisciplinarity, equity, and socially accountable scholarship.
The role requires an externally funded, clinically embedded program of research responsive to the Manitoba health system and its populations. Areas of focus may include Indigenous health, rural and northern health, chronic disease management, mental health, health services delivery, and culturally safe care. The candidate will demonstrate strong commitment to knowledge translation, ensuring research is co‑developed with patients, communities, and health system partners.
Responsibilities- Maintain a robust, externally funded program of research embedded within clinical practice and responsive to the needs and priorities of the Manitoba health system and the populations it serves.
- Conduct practice‑informed inquiry and generate impactful knowledge to improve care delivery, health equity and system transformation.
- Supervise graduate students, post‑doctoral trainees and mentor research staff.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, building research capacity among students and clinicians.
- Lead and participate in interdisciplinary and cross‑sectoral research teams, collaborating with health authorities, community organisations and Indigenous partners.
- Provide service and leadership within the College, University, healthcare system and broader professional communities, advancing clinical scholarship, health system improvement, reconciliation and equity.
- A PhD in Nursing or a related discipline.
- Active registration (or eligibility for registration) as a Registered Nurse in Manitoba.
- Demonstrated expertise and ongoing engagement in clinical practice relevant to the candidate’s research program.
- A strong and evolving research program consistent with Clinician Scientist principles, integrating clinical practice and research.
- Evidence of peer‑reviewed publications and success in obtaining competitive research funding.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and sustain collaborative partnerships with healthcare organisations, Indigenous communities, and community‑based stakeholders.
- Commitment to advancing Indigenous health, equity, diversity, inclusion and culturally safe care.
- Proven excellence in teaching, curriculum development and supervision at undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Demonstrated commitment to knowledge translation and measurable impact on practice, policy and/or health systems.
- Capacity to supervise graduate students and mentor research staff in clinically embedded environments.
- Excellent communication skills, strong clinical credibility and an ability to build respectful, reciprocal relationships across academic, clinical, and community settings.
- A well‑established and sustained programme of externally funded Clinician Scientist research.
- Evidence of national and/or international recognition.
- A strong and consistent record of impactful publications.
- Demonstrated influence on clinical practice, health policy or health system transformation.
- Leadership in interdisciplinary and cross‑sectoral collaborations.
