Reporting to the Provost and Vice‑President (Academic), the Dean is a member of the University’s senior leadership team and is the academic and administrative leader of the Faculty. Responsibilities include oversight of programs, services, budgets, infrastructure and promotion of teaching and research, innovative program development, community connections, and support for the needs of students, faculty, and staff. The Dean will work collaboratively with faculty members and across campus to advance the Faculty’s vision and to ensure alignment with the University’s aims and goals.

Applicants should be a respected academic leader with a demonstrated record of scholarship, research, community engagement, and a commitment to teaching and research success at undergraduate and graduate levels. Experience in academic planning and implementation, finance management, and people management within a unionized environment is required. The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator, strategic thinker, and collaborator who can build positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government, community partners, Indigenous communities, and industry.
A values‑based, community‑engaged leadership style, creativity in problem solving, and capacity to inspire are essential. Commitment to decolonization, Indigenization, equity and diversity is essential. Candidates must hold an earned Ph.D. in a relevant discipline from a recognized university and be appointable at the rank of full professor.
