Dean, Clayton H. Riddell Faculty of Environment, Earth, and Resources
Reporting to the Provost and Vice‑President (Academic), the Dean is a senior leader responsible for promoting teaching and research, innovative program development, community connections, and serving the needs of students, faculty, and staff. The role includes oversight of all Faculty operations, including programs, services, budgets, and infrastructure, and requires collaboration with Faculty members and the broader campus community to advance the Faculty’s vision and align with the University’s goals.
Responsibilities- Promote teaching and research excellence across undergraduate and graduate programs.
- Lead innovative program development and curriculum enhancement.
- Develop and manage the Faculty budget and financial resources responsibly.
- Oversee infrastructure, facilities, and technology needs for faculty operations.
- Build and sustain community partnerships, including government, Indigenous communities, industry, and broader external stakeholders.
- Ensure strategic alignment of the Faculty’s academic plan with the University’s aims.
- Foster a collegial, inclusive, and engaging learning and research environment.
- Earned Ph.D. in a relevant discipline from a recognized university.
- Appointable at the rank of full professor.
- Demonstrated record of scholarship, research, and community engagement.
- Experience in academic leadership positions with responsibilities in planning, finance, and people management within a unionized environment.
- Strong communicator and strategic thinker with a collaborative, collegial style.
- Commitment to decolonization, Indigenization, equity, diversity, and inclusion; proven actions and relationships in these areas.
- Ability to inspire and manage a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students.
