Key responsibilities
  • Attends orientation, planning, and coordinating meetings as scheduled for course staff.
  • May be required to attend lectures and other instructional sessions.
  • Consults with the employment supervisor for direction on assigned responsibilities.
  • Prepares instructional material such as handouts, assignments, problem sets, tests, and exams; presents material in tutorials, laboratories, or seminars.
  • Marks student work in tutorials, labs, or seminars and the assigned portion of general course work, including midterm and final exams or major projects.
  • Maintains regular consultation times with students and provides informal consultation when necessary.
  • Performs related duties such as developing audio‑visual material, preparing experiments, and participating in field trips.
  • Occasionally substitutes for other teaching or support staff as required.
  • May initiate or forward information to students regarding assignment problems or misinterpretations.

If you are an international student you must have a valid study permit that allows on‑campus work and be enrolled as a full‑time University of Manitoba student for the duration of the appointment.

Qualifications
  • Completion of academic studies and experience that qualify you to assist in the instruction of the assigned course(s).
  • An empathetic approach to the instructional needs and concerns of students.
  • Effective communication skills in English.

Preference may be given to applicants who are, or will be, registered students enrolled in the department posting the opportunity at the time duties commence.
