At the Dutchess BOCES Adult Learning Institute, we are hiring instructors for ESL courses. These positions serve diverse adult learners, offering general and contextualized ESOL classes that prepare students for further career certifications. Classes operate throughout the year, focusing on practical language skills for real-world situations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct engaging ESL classes for adult learners at various levels
• Focus on enhancing speaking, writing, and communication skills
• Support contextual learning linked to career certifications
• Prepare lesson plans that accommodate open enrollment students
• Maintain a supportive and inclusive classroom environment
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree preferred; certification in K-12 recommended
• Experience teaching adults from diverse backgrounds
• Must be open to obtaining Adult Education Certification
• Previous ESL instruction experience is highly desirable
• Strong interpersonal skills to engage with students
