ABOUT THE TEAM

WHAT YOU WILL DO
As an instructor within the School of Health Sciences & Community Services, your responsibilities would include classroom instruction, supervision and guidance of students, student evaluation, advising of students, maintenance of student records and other professional duties related to instruction. Examples of subject areas are Interpretation and Advanced ASL. The incumbent is also required to participate in department and College committees and assist in student orientation and graduation activities.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

Bachelor's degree in Deaf Studies, Deaf Education, ASL Linguistics, Deaf Culture Studies, or a closely related field

Native or native-like fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)

ASL Proficiency Interview (ASLPI) rating of Level 4 or higher

In-depth knowledge of Deaf culture, Deaf history, Deaf community values, and the barriers and challenges experienced by Deaf individuals grounded in authentic lived experienced

Extensive experience working with ASL‑English Interpreters in a variety of settings

Excellent interpersonal communication skills

Demonstrated leadership skills

Ability to teach on campus and remotely

Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Suite
