The City of Selkirk is hiring a Utility Operator to enhance our water and wastewater treatment services. In this full-time role, you will ensure compliance and safety while managing operations and community health.
As a Utility Operator under the guidance of the Manager of Utilities, you will be responsible for the efficient operation of treatment facilities. This includes conducting crucial tests, maintaining records, and assisting with equipment repairs. This position also requires readiness for emergency calls and potentially mentoring fellow staff members.
Key Responsibilities:
• Operate diverse equipment at treatment facilities
• Execute daily tests for monitoring water quality
• Maintain comprehensive operational records
• Perform basic maintenance and assist contractors
• Respond promptly to alarms during on-call hours
Requirements:
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Certification in Level II Wastewater and Water Distribution
• Four years’ experience in utilities operation
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License necessary
• First Aid Certification and training in confined spaces required
