Position SummaryIndependently inspects, tests, and functions mechanical and electrical systems, equipment, components, tools, dies, templates, fixtures, first off parts for conformance to the technical requirements and determines serviceability. Must be able to read drawings and use measurement equipment, conduct survey inspections, inspect special processes such as welding, heat treat, and chemical processes, perform physical testing, and conduct other test methods not detrimental to the part.
Performs digital data capture with computer‑driven measurement interface instruments, including use of supplied programs, and carries out analysis, evaluation, and report functions in support of tooling and production/fabrication requirements based on engineering drawings, electronic data sets, CAD models, or other media. Maintains required records and documentation.
- Experience in reading drawings, measuring equipment/bench inspection, CMM inspection, and Optical 3D measuring systems (considered an asset).
- Knowledge of special processes such as welding, heat treat, chemical processing, physical testing and NDT (considered an asset).
- Proficiency with basic computer programs such as Word and Excel.
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work under tight time constraints.
- Grade XII or equivalent required.
- Must meet the visual acuity requirements specified in QSP 12.0.
- Must demonstrate competency by successfully completing a written assessment test of skills, such as mathematics, including basic trigonometry, and English comprehension.
- Ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
- Ability to conduct visual examination of parts for workmanship against written standards.
