Loewen is currently connecting with Engineering students, requiring an upcoming enrollment in a 2026 Coop Program. Coop Students at Loewen will experience all areas of Engineering including everything from introduction and implementation of new equipment and processes, product design and continuously working to improve current state within the manufacturing plant. This is a tremendous opportunity to collaborate in project work while gaining every day, practical Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.

This opportunity would be in-person at our Steinbach, MB facility.

Duties may include:

  • Assisting with task and project teams
  • Participating in shop floor improvement projects, identifying tools and equipment to increase efficiency and capacity.
  • Researching, specifying, ordering, implementing, performance testing, and championing the training for new production tooling and equipment.
  • Preparing Capital Expenditure requests supported by savings and return on investment calculations.
  • Creating and updating engineering drawings and layouts.
  • Collecting and analyzing data to identify and justify improvement actions.
  • Staying abreast of new technology, manufacturing practices, processes, and equipment
  • Promoting a continuous improvement culture within the organization.
  • Requirements:

  • Enrolled in an Engineering program through a recognized University or College.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization skills, and ability to read/interpret engineering drawings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on customer service
  • Proven root cause analysis problem solving skills
  • Strong work ethic
  • Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD, MS Word, Excel and Project
