DutiesManitoba Transportation and Infrastructure’s mission is to ensure safe, reliable and sustainable infrastructure and services. The Flood Damage Reduction Hydraulic Engineer provides specialized engineering services that include hydraulic model development for flow and water level forecasting, flood risk mapping, emergency response, basin condition monitoring and infrastructure analysis and design. The engineer also conducts water management projects and manages and provides guidance on projects assigned to consultants.

- Extensive experience in hydraulic modelling, model calibration and verification using tools such as HEC‑RAS, MIKE
11, etc., and using the model for water level and flow forecasts and real‑time water‑management problems. - Extensive experience in analysing and processing complex hydrometric and bathymetric data using GIS, preparing data for model input, decision making, flood risk mapping.
- Knowledge of hydrology and water‑resource engineering principles.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, multitask, and work extended hours when required.
- Ability to undertake independent research and develop proposals to introduce innovations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to prepare technical and non‑technical reports.
- Effective interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of workplace safety and health practices.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent recognized by Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (EGM).
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba.
- Willing and able to travel within Manitoba as required.
- Capable of occasionally working in an outdoor, rough‑terrain environment in extreme weather conditions.
