Senior Design Engineer
Our client is a manufacturer of livestock related farm equipment. The Senior Design Engineer is responsible for overseeing new product development projects, driving process and design improvements, and spearheading research and development initiatives. The role includes collaborating with the design/drafting team to conceptualize ideas, conduct thorough testing, and revise drawings, bills of materials, and operating procedures. They partner with production to identify process and production gaps, ensure product quality, and streamline builds.
The Engineer also liaises with the supply chain and warranty team for service parts needs, warranty/failure analysis, and troubleshooting. They provide guidance to a team of designers, QA/QC, and production coaching, manage goals, align with commitments and KPIs, and approve drawings and calculations as required.
The Senior Design Engineer will work in the main office located in rural Alberta, 1 hour south of Edmonton.
Responsibilities- Oversee new product development projects.
- Drive process and design improvements.
- Spearhead research and development initiatives.
- Collaborate with the design/drafting team to conceptualize ideas, conduct testing, and revise drawings, bills of materials, and operating procedures.
- Partner with production to identify process and production gaps, ensure product quality, and streamline builds.
- Liaise with supply chain and warranty team for service parts needs, warranty/failure analysis, and troubleshooting.
- Provide guidance to team of designers, QA/QC and production coaching.
- Manage goals, align with commitments and KPIs.
- Approve drawings and calculations as required.
- Completion of an engineering degree from an accredited institute.
- Registration with APEGA (Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta) with a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) status.
- 5 to 10 years of relevant work experience with strong skills, knowledge, and expertise in the field.
- Previous experience in a leadership role, specifically as a process and technical leader within a manufacturing, heavy equipment, or industrial environment.
- Proven experience in managing and leading a team of individuals.
