Sessional Instructor - ENEL LEC , Fall , Electrical & Software Engineering
Position Overview
Department of Electrical and Software Engineering at the University of Calgary is hiring a Sessional Instructor for the course ENEL 670 – Power Systems Analyses Applications during Fall 2026 (September 1 – December 31, 2026).
Course Description- Exact full alternating current power flow analysis with off‑nominal transformers
- Approximate power flow methods including direct current power flow and linear sensitivity methods
- Transmission line loadability and reactive power compensation
- Rotor angle and voltage stability analysis methods
- Frequency control in interconnected power grids
- Emerging concepts in modern electrical grids (energy storage, renewable energy sources, micro‑grids, synthetic inertia)
Lecture: MWF 11:00am–11:50am.
Qualifications- Earned at least a master’s degree in electrical, computer or software engineering.
- Demonstrated background in the subject matter related to the course.
- Very good previous teaching performance or potential for very good to excellent teaching ability.
Engineer registration in a Canadian province is strongly desired.
