Highway Project Technologist (TE1 Technical Engineering Officer
1) – Regular/full-time – Department of Transportation and Infrastructure, Highway Regional Operations – Eastern Region – Steinbach, MB.
Salary: TE1 $ 69,997.00 – $86,129.00 per year.

ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Senior Highway Engineer, the Highway Project Technologist primarily performs project construction and associated departmental staff supervision and assists with project design and tender preparation while adhering to Department standards, policies and specifications.

QualificationsEssential:
- Civil Engineering Technology diploma or completion of the Department's Level 3 training program (with the exception of Design
3). An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. - Experience working in roadway construction and preservation (i.e. Grading, Base and Surfacing Projects, etc.).
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively within a diverse work team environment displaying initiative, responsibility, efficiency and enthusiasm.
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and courteously with internal contacts, other branches/divisions, and stakeholders.
- Excellent planning, analytical, and interpretive skills.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Excellent written communication skills and ability to maintain accurate records, prepare applicable correspondence and associated technical reports.
Desired:
- Experience in the department's detailed design process and preparation of construction orders and tenders.
- Experience using Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure’s Masterworks, Internal Project Approval Management (IPAM) system, Contract Services Approval System (CSAS) and Master Plan spreadsheets or an equivalent system.
- Knowledge of Occupational Safety, Health & Risk Management policies and procedures.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 driver's licence.
- Must have the ability to travel within the province (by air or land).
- Must be able to work overtime, extended or irregular hours including weekends, evenings, and overnight stays as needed.
- Must be physically capable of performing required duties such as prolonged sitting, medium lifting (up to 25 lbs), walking on uneven surfaces and wearing PPE.
