Job Description

Mechanical Designer within WSP’s Buildings M&E team in Winnipeg. You will translate engineering concepts into coordinated, constructible mechanical designs. Work alongside engineers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality building systems for safe, efficient, and sustainable communities.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed mechanical layouts, drawings, and 3D models for building systems including HVAC, hydronics, plumbing, drainage, fire protection, and controls using REVIT and AutoCAD.
  • Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, structural, electrical, and other disciplines to support clash‑free construction documentation.
  • Support engineers by developing design details, schedules, and drawing packages from design development through issued‑for‑construction.
  • Apply relevant codes, standards, and project requirements to ensure compliant and constructible designs.
  • Participate in collaborative design‑assist environments, working closely with engineers and trade partners.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of design quality, efficiency, and coordination practices within the team.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Building Systems Technology, or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of mechanical design experience within a consulting or construction environment, ideally focused on buildings.
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and building control systems.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk REVIT MEP and/or AutoCAD MEP for 3D modelling and construction documentation.
  • Familiarity with National and Manitoba Building Codes, Plumbing Codes, Fire Codes, and relevant standards.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization skills, and ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Compensation

Salary range: $66,700 – $88,400. The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
