Groundwater Team Lead reports to the Operations Lead and leads the Groundwater Team within the Environmental Services Business Centre. The position can be based in any Atlantic Canada office.
Key Responsibilities- Manage resources and develop a team of engineers, hydro geologists, environmental scientists, and technical staff within the Groundwater group.
- Collaborate with other team leaders and discipline leads for effective resource planning and operational alignment.
- Supervise junior staff and assist with career development.
- Chair regular team meetings and share information.
- Lead creation of a safety culture within the team.
- Support the team to meet utilization targets.
- Encourage a culture of innovation, collaboration, and cross‑training.
- Attract, grow, and retain high‑quality staff.
- Coach team members.
- Perform year‑end performance reviews.
- Participate in and/or manage hydrogeological project work.
- Oversee projects of varying complexity, performing technical design tasks and providing guidance.
- Lead project coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control reviews on own and peer projects.
- Leadership experience and commitment to Stantec values, including inclusion and diversity.
- Experience or solid understanding of the consulting industry in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Robust organizational and time‑management skills balancing short‑term and long‑term priorities.
- Experience with hydrogeological field work, characterization, data analysis, and reporting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong business development, client management, communication, and financial management skills.
- Willingness to travel when needed.
Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in civil, hydrotechnical, geoscience, or related engineering discipline. Minimum of ten (10) years of industry experience.
Work EnvironmentTypical office environment with computer work and desk work for long periods. Field work may include exposure to weather elements. As a People Leader, you are expected to work from the office at least three (3) days per week.
Location and TravelPrimary location:
Canada – Nova Scotia – Dartmouth. Travel required.
